What are your qualifications?
We’ve been in Marriage Ministry for almost 30 years, and have trained through workshops conducted by the American Association of Christian Counselors, and Life Innovations. We’ve assisted two churches in launching a Marriage & Family ministry, and served on staff at one church for 8 years.
What is your method?
Our method would best be described as discipleship counseling, with the Bible as our primary text. We encourage active participation by our counselees, and trust the Holy Spirit’s guidance for all His children to be healthy and free in Christ. Our role is to facilitate and encourage that journey.
What distinguishes you from other counseling services?
We believe all life issues have spiritual roots that manifest in a wide variety of behaviors from depression, anxiety, and suicidal thoughts; to obsessive/compulsive behaviors and addictions; to anger, hurt, confusion, control, and fear-based thoughts/behaviors (and more). Standard counseling practices generally result in “tolerable recovery.” We find that addressing the spiritual issue behind the problem results in complete freedom in Christ. This was Jesus’ promise to a hurting world: “It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.” (Galatians 5:1)
How long will the counseling last?
Apart from the set times of premarital counseling, each situation is handled individually. Big influencing factors include the nature of the issue, the client’s willingness to do his/her part, and the speed with which the client is able to go. Diligent work equates to greater progress.
What results can I expect?
The results are basically up to the individual. Those who focus only on the presenting crisis can achieve relief. But, those determined to move beyond issues that have kept them “stuck,” start to discover who God designed them to be, and are able to step into their calling and purpose.
